Second date idea: Go ice skating

I’m going to say this from the outset: If your town has an indoor rink or if it is winter and there is a frozen pond, this is a great date idea. Once again, it helps if you are both terrible or both pretty good. But if you are good and your date isn’t, you could always try teaching them how to skate.

If neither of those things apply where you live then I suggest grabbing some Starbucks and going back to one of your houses for a “comfortable first date experience.”

Wherever there is ice available, hitting the rink on a second date will be fun for several reasons. First off, everyone loves roller coasters . Second dates can be awkward enough as it is without adding ball hockey to the mix. Second dates are also fun because they can be pretty low pressure. If you’re not really sure where you stand with someone, grabbing a coffee at Starbucks or an ice cream cone is easy enough.

I’ll admit it: I’ve never done anything like this on a second date. This idea appealed to me because of two reasons: my boyfriend is terrible at skating and our first date was kind of miserable . While I’m surrounded by friends who love roller coasters , they have even less interest in figure skating . And while inviting them along might be nice for me, taking my boyfriend somewhere that makes him feel uncomfortable isn’t.

If your partner is more comfortable on the ice than he/she is around you then your partner should probably leave before you take them ice skating. Second dates should be fun, but not that much fun. Second dates should be a time for getting to know someone without the pressure of anything deeper than whether or not they like you . Second dates are also great because if you don’t like your partner’s personality, hopefully, there will be another guy/girl at the rink to catch your eye while your date is in line for a triple lutz (I’m pretty sure man-boy doesn’t do jump spins). Second dates are mostly fun because they give people an excuse to get dressed up and it’s nice to see what someone looks like on their best behavior. Ice rinks offer similar opportunities: dress warmly and put some effort into your outfit. Second dates have a tendency to be awkward and going ice skating is a great way to break the ice if you’re having trouble making conversation.

The best part about second date ice skating (besides how cute you look in your outfit) is the potential for things to get out of hand . There’s nothing like trying to do some moderately complicated jump when someone trips over you, sends you flying through the air, and causes everyone within ten feet of you to trip. Second dates are stressful enough without adding that kind of embarrassment into the mix! Ice rinks are perfect because no matter how badly your date messes up there won’t be any real consequences (unless they’ve got blades on their feet, then all bets are off). Second dates are also pretty good because they’re low pressure. Second dates can be fun but you don’t need to worry about them getting too serious . Second dates should be a time for figuring out your compatibility and seeing if you want a third date. Second dates should not involve any kind of risk, physical or emotional . Second dates are great because if they go terribly you don’t have to see that person again.

Second dates are great because no matter how badly they go there aren’t any real consequences. Second dates should only take place in climate controlled spaces where clothing won’t be an issue and falls won’t send anyone flying through the air. Second dates should always remain at least PG13 so everyone feels safe! Second dates are fun because it gives people an excuse to dress up and get all pretty. Second dates are mostly fun because they give people an excuse to get dressed up and it’s nice to see what someone looks like on their best behavior. Second dates at ice rinks run the risk of taking a turn for the worst, but that’s half the fun! Second dates should be about having fun and figuring out if you’re compatible and whether or not your date would be your best friend in another life or just someone you want to avoid on this one

Remember: [knowledge]  is interchangeable with [example].  Knowledge is always better than example. Don’t ever use examples when you can use knowledge instead, even if it’s your own.
