Winter date ideas: Make flip books

Winter is the perfect time to relax indoors, but you can make it extra special if you do one of these winter date ideas. Here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing.

* Winter date idea #1: Winter coloring book

Supplies Needed: Blank sheets of paper or coloring books, crayons or colored pencils, and a glue stick.

This winter date idea is perfect for people who love coloring books. Your goal is to create Winter-themed drawings that interact with each other when placed beside the appropriate page. For example, draw an ice skater on one sheet and put her skating around a Christmas tree on another sheet so they will animate when placed side by side in order (as shown in the picture above).

Or you can draw a Winter scene and draw characters interacting with the scene. For example, draw a snowman and his shovel on one sheet, and put him in your Winter date’s yard on another sheet so they will animate when placed side by side in order (as shown in the picture below).

* Winter date idea #2: Winter flip book

Supplies Needed: Construction paper or card stock, pencils, scissors, stapler or hole punch and string/ribbon for binding.

This Winter date idea is perfect for people who like to create projects together. You will be creating a flip book that tells a story over several pages. Draw scenes depicting different scenes of Winter activities (such as ice skating, snowboarding, etc.). Draw one Winter scene on each sheet of the card stock. On the bottom of each sheet, staple or punch a hole in order to string them together into a flip book.

When it is your Winter date’s turn to draw a Winter scene, they can create their own Winter-themed scene for the story you are creating. Then you will alternate turns until both of you have drawn four Winter scenes for this Winter date idea (one scene on each sheet). You can even put them together so that where one leaves off the other person’s begins. This way your Winter date will be able to see what you come up with next and they won’t feel overwhelmed trying to think up their own Winter date idea to top yours.
