Escape rooms are these really cool live action games. You have to find clues in the room, decipher messages, solve puzzles and break codes in order to get out of the room within an hour.
You could just talk with your date while solving the puzzles or you can play in teams of two or three people. When playing in teams, it is really fun to discuss the best way to solve a puzzle and work together.
Escape rooms can get really intense and competitive, which is good if your date isn’t the most talkative person in the world. This can encourage him or her to participate more actively in the conversation!
Luckily, there are escape rooms all over Sydney that you can go on a date at. All of these places will more than likely not require you to book, because there usually aren’t many people who visit them each day so they have time for walk-ins.
1. The Locker Room (The Rocks)
Address: Shop 3 / 8 Foster Street, The Rocks NSW 2000
This might be a little bit cheesy but it’s still a really good idea. On your date, you can play a game of mini-golf and then go get some gelato!
This is a great way to get to know each other while having fun together. The best thing about this place is that it’s located not too far from the CBD, meaning that there are plenty of things to do in the area afterwards!
Address: G07A Ground Floor Market City Westfield Bondi Junction Wetherill Park NSW 2164
This escape room takes place at school during an apocalyptic event, involving zombies. You must fight off all of the zombies with your teammates in order to survive. This might sound a bit scary but I can assure you that it isn’t really that intense.
It’s a really great place to go on a date, because it is located in Westfield Bondi Junction . After you get out of the escape room, you can walk around and do some shopping!
Address: Shop 2D / 21-23 Dunning Avenue Miranda NSW 2019
In this escape room, your mission is to save your friend from another planet. This might sound very sci-fi but trust me when I say that you’ll have so much fun and will not even notice how fast time flies by. It might also inspire your date to talk about nerdy stuff with you!
This place is located only five minutes away from Miranda mall , so if you want to buy some groceries or whatever after the escape room experience, you can totally do so.
4. Pandemonium (Darling Harbour)
This escape room takes place in a psychiatric ward, where the patients have taken over. You need to find out what exactly is going on here and how to escape, all while searching for clues. It’s pretty creepy but has an interesting story-line that you’ll love!
It’s located near Darling Harbour , which is perfect if your date isn’t very talkative or if you want to take some romantic pictures with the iconic Sydney Opera House in the background!
5. The Hack Shack (Ryde)
Address: 925 Victoria Road West Ryde NSW 2114
Another zombie themed escape room, yay! However this one is more intense than the previous one. In this escape room, you have to find a cure for the zombie virus and survive till help arrives. This is a great way to show that you’re capable of looking after yourself, which is always good!
Afterwards, your date will more than likely be hungry so go get some food! There are many places around Ryde shopping centre to eat at. It’s also really close to the station so if you need to travel somewhere else afterwards, it won’t take long!
7. The Enigma Room (Chatswood)
Address: 15-27 Melbourne Street Chatswood NSW 2067
In this escape room, you must find out who murdered your father and how he was murdered by looking for clues and hidden items around an abandoned room. This escape room is pretty good because it gets more intense as you go deeper into the room, which is great!
Afterwards, your date can get very hungry so why not go to Chat Thai , a thai restaurant in Chatswood ? The atmosphere there is really nice and romantic, perfect for a first date!
Address: 137 King Street Newtown NSW 2042
This escape room takes place in the past when Australia was still being colonised by white men. You are locked up in a jail cell with your team mates, but you must escape before something bad happens to all of you.
It might sound scary but trust me when I say that it isn’t as intense as it sounds. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon and will definitely make you want to tell each other all about your lives!
Afterwards, park at Newtown station and walk around the area. You’ll find loads of nice cafes and restaurants that are perfect for a date!
